Meet Dr. Bri Sérráno
Bri has rented his home in Covina for over eight years, was raised in a single-parent home, & was born in West Covina at Queen of the Valley hospital to a low-income, Veteran, immigrant, Latino family. His grandparents’ family migrated from Mexico & picked fruit in the fields of the San Fernando Valley. Federal programs provided life-saving treatment when he was a newborn, pre-mature baby.
Dr. Bri is the only candidate for District 5 who is exclusively public school educated via federal & state grants, has written national policy briefs for higher education institutions, consulted for Northrop Grumman, presented at the Toronto Film Festival, at Ivy League institutions on best practices for Title IX policy, and his research was used in the SFFA v. Harvard (2023) Supreme Court case.
Dr. Bri is looking forward to serving Covina & District 5 after the election on June 2, 2026.
The single parents who raised him, one a federal USPS Postal Carrier and one a former activist turned retail worker who organized with the Black Panthers & Brown Berets in Chicago. Since beginning his career, he has embraced being a person of queer and trans experience, served as a California State employee in the Cal State system for over eight years as a staff member (APC Union) working in LGBTQ centers, served as a faculty (CFA Union) for over four years in Ethnic & Women’s Studies.
He currently serves as an Assistant Dean at the Claremont Colleges.
